Reading & Spelling
Imagine sitting in a classroom and being unable to read out loud, not understanding the context or completely missing what the teacher is saying. Dyslexia affects the brain's ability to process written text due to directional confusion. ADHD affects the five executive functions of the brain resulting in poor inhibition and lack of attention. These conditions can cause significant problems for children. This is often devastating for the child's confidence and overall performance. We want to help! The Brenham Learning Company is dedicated to excellent and affordable individualized instruction and brain training in core academic skills such as Reading and Math for struggling students who would like to improve academic performance, confidence and the symptoms of learning disabilities.

If a child cannot learn the way we teach... we should teach in a way the child can learn!  -unknown-

The first objective is to restore confidence and a love for learning!

What others say:

" Working with Ms. Anna has been a wonderful experience. My son with ADHD has a hard time keeping up in class and with  Ms.Anna's one on one tutoring both in a private school situation for 5
Yrs. and in her office has enabled him
To succeed with confidence both
in and out of the classroom. An answer to prayers" C. H.

"My son is ESL, ADD and LD. I like this class he is taking because he is doing much better in reading then when he started and he is more confident. He is learning new things and how to read better. I am glad to have met Ms. Anna and how she is teaching my son. I like how she pushes him to read" C. P.

What is Brain Training?
The Learning Company uses scientifically proven and promising techniques such as Interactive Metronome (IM - addressing timing), balance beam (coordination), trampoline (vestibular sensory input), computation (processing), and Orton-Gillingham based Reading and Spelling instruction (Phonemic Awareness and Phonics Instruction).

These Brain Training techniques are integrated during reading, spelling and math instruction and practice and are geared towards improving coordination, auditory/visual perception, and cognitive processing and memory.By setting attainable goals based on each child's individual skill set the child begins to develop confidence, new skills and regains a desire to learn.

Why we use the Metronome
A Metronome is a device that produces regular, metrical ticks (beats, clicks) — settable in beats per minute, often used by musicians to accomplish accuracy in timing. Consistent use of the metronome during the training imbeds skills, helps students do things automatically, creates intensity, improves processing speed and develops attention skills.
